Vedder, McLachlan, Crowes Cover Beatles For 'Sam'


Eddie Vedder, Sarah McLachlan, the Black Crowes and 14 other artists will deliver their takes on Beatles classics for the soundtrack to the Sean Penn drama “I Am Sam.” The album, due January 8, also features Ben Folds, the Wallflowers, Paul Westerberg, Nick Cave and Ben Harper, among others, according to a V2 Records spokesperson. Crows Set Fall Tour


The Counting Crows will road test material from their upcoming record when they head out on a thirty-four-date tour later this month. The road trip kicks off on August 18th in Englewood, Colorado and wraps up in Lawrence, Kansas on November 7th. Meanwhile, the Crows will continue working on their follow-up to 1999’s This Desert Life, due out next spring. Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crow, k.d. lang and Diana Krall will make guest appearances on Tony Bennett’s next album, Playing With My Friends: Bennett Sings the Blues, which is due this fall. Black Crowes Get Plastered At Rockwalk


Rock band the Black Crowes, who kicked off a North American tour with Oasis last weekend, took time out Monday to immortalize their handprints in concrete.
