In what is being billed as the first time they’ve ever played at the same concert, Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel have signed on for a benefit for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama on October 16 at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Other performers have yet to be announced. Tickets range from $500 to $10,000. Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden is facing questioning from police over a run-in with a paparazzi photographer on Saturday night outside Los Angeles’ famed Mr. Chow restaurant. According to Beverly Hills Police Department Lieutenant Mitch McCann, a photographer filed a report on Monday in which she claimed that Madden struck her on the left breast with the heel of his hand as he was escorting girlfriend Nicole Richie from the back door of the restaurant to his car. After swearing off pop songwriting following his 1993 album “River of Dreams,” Billy Joel has returned to the format with a new single, “All My Life.” The Phil Ramone-produced track will premiere Feb. 7 on People.com, where it will be available for streaming and as music for a Valentine’s Day e-card. It will then be sold exclusively via Apple’s iTunes Music Store from Feb. 20-March 6, after which it will available at most digital retailers.
