How can a music fan access hundreds of thousands of downloadable music tracks, purchase a wide array of audio compact discs and obtain information about their favorite music artists – all in one location? One way is by logging onto Musiclub, Sony Electronics’ consumer gateway to digital music, news and products at http://www.musiclub.sonystyle.com.
Musiclub has expanded its music offerings by adding the pressplay music subscription service. Pressplay gives subscribers access to a broad catalog of the world’s most popular music through streaming, downloading, CD-burning and, soon, transfer to portable devices including Sony’s Net MD(TM) player. Pressplay’s vast online library features an array of rock, pop, jazz, country, hip-hop and R&B songs from the world’s three largest record companies – Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and EMI Recorded Music – as well as numerous independent labels.
Musiclub has also added Listen.com’s Rhapsody(SM) subscription service. Rhapsody gives consumers unlimited access to a vast library of music drawn from catalogs of all five of the world’s largest record companies. Rhapsody also offers professionally programmed Internet radio stations and extensive music information and editorial recommendations.
With the addition of these two services, along with its current digital music offerings from Liquid Audio and Sony Music, Musiclub offers a comprehensive selection of downloadable tracks and albums. Later this summer, music lovers will also be able to purchase CDs, cassettes and Super Audio CDs directly from Musiclub’s new online store and choose from more than 100,000 titles.
“Musiclub connects music lovers to the music they want. Whether it’s a hot music news story, a new downloadable track or that hard-to-find CD, Musiclub can deliver it,” said Bob Nell, vice president of music services at Sony Electronics e-Solutions Company, LLC. “And now, the addition of pressplay and Rhapsody, as well as our new music store, has broadened the appeal of Musiclub.”
Musiclub provides an end-to-end solution for Sony and many other manufacturers’ networked digital music products. Music fans have the ability to transfer a large selection of music onto a Sony VAIO(R) PC, and will soon be able to export to Sony digital music devices like the Net MD(TM) Walkman(R) player and Network Walkman(R) digital music player.
The site also offers comprehensive information about how to download and transfer music to Sony devices and provides useful product support information, as well as a community section where users can interact via bulletin boards with other digital music enthusiasts.
Musiclub users also have access to a range of artist information, including concert tour dates, album listings, biographies and news on more than 13,000 music artists, and 30-second sound clips from more than 100,000 CDs. The site also features links to shop for Sony Electronics products and accessories on SonyStyle.com
Additionally, users can customize Musiclub according to their personal music preferences, as well as the Sony network digital music devices they own. By doing this, the site will automatically recommend music that fits these preferences each time the user logs on.
Finally, new VAIO PCs are now equipped with a music services folder pre-loaded on the desktop containing links to pressplay, Rhapsody and Liquid Audio on Musiclub.
