The guys in Sum 41 don’t mind if most people don’t know what it means to be vegan, but when they’re on the road they hope that at least restaurants can accommodate them.
Drummer Stevo Jocz says that when he tells a waiter or waitress that he doesn’t eat animal products, they often ask if he eats fish.
“And I’m like, is that a plant?” Jocz says.
When he told his parents that he was a vegan, even they didn’t know what he was talking about. His mother thought it was something from Star Trek. His father just shook his head and said, “Another bleeding heart liberal,” and left the room.
A vegan is defined as a strict vegetarian who consumes no animal food or dairy products.
