Sum 41 has finished its most recent headline dates, and is now rehearsing its performance for MTVicon Metallica, which takes place in Los Angeles Saturday (May 3). The band is also going to record with Iggy Pop this week, according to a journal post by drummer Steve O.
“Tonight will be our last night with No Use For A Name (sad, isn’t it?), and tomorrow we’re flying back to LA to rehearse for our Metallica Icon performance and we’re also going to squeeze a recording in with Iggy Pop,” Steve Jocz said.
Vocalist/guitarist Deryck Whibley said that the band was offered a slot on the Metallica Summer Sanitarium, but chose not to participate. “We got offered some of the Metallica tour, but we’re not doing that,” Whibley said. “We would have loved to tour with Metallica, but all the bands on that bill were just too weird for what we were doing.”
Bands touring with Metallica for the Summer Sanitarium include Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Mudvayne, and Deftones.
