Britney Spears has announced that she will donate $1.00 per ticket sold from each of the 31 concerts she will play on her North American Tour this Fall to the children of the NYC Policeman & Firefighters lost in the World Trade Center attack.
Spears will also offer exclusive merchandise at each show and auction many front row tickets to the concerts with all of the proceeds being donated in an effort to raise as much as $2,000,000.00 for the youngest victims of this national tragedy. Helping children has always been the focus of The Britney Spears Foundation and Spears is creating a special division of the Foundation dedicated to these young victims.
Spears left the country on Monday, September 10, arriving in Australia on Wednesday, September 12 on an international promotional tour for her next Album when she heard of the attacks on America. Upon her arrival in Australia on September 12 Spears said, “I do not feel it’s appropriate to hold a press conference at this time for the launch of my Album. This pales in comparison to what we have just witnessed. My thoughts and condolences are with our fellow citizens who have lost their lives and with their families and friends.” She cancelled her international promotional tour and is expected to arrive back in the States in the next few days. She states, “During this sad time, I feel it’s important to be with your family.” As a result of this announcement, some media sources incorrectly reported that Ms. Spears had cancelled her world tour.
