Smile Empty Soul are making the road their home. The trio, who’ve been touring since May with a variety of bands including Trapt and Seether, have just landed support dates with Pennsylvania alt- rockers Fuel. The tour, which kicks off on September 29th and continues through November 2nd, is almost completely sold-out and considered by many to be one of this fall’s must-see rock shows.
Smile Empty Soul are gaining notoriety for their uncompromising live show. Their high-octane performance, combined with massive radio support, has garnered legions of dedicated fans nationwide. The band’s debut single, Bottom of a Bottle is the perfect combination of post-grunge heaviness and alternative angst. Currently, the track is #8 on the alternative chart while continuing to climb. In addition, the album has scanned over 120,000 units since release and is # 98 on the Billboard Top 200. MTV2 continues to show their support while slotting the video into Blow Torch rotation, receiving the maximum number of spins on the channel.
Smile Empty Soul are vocalist/lyricist Sean Danielsen, bassist Ryan Martin and drummer Derek Gledhill. The band formed in 1999 and regularly performed locally in Santa Clarita and on the Sunset Strip. The guys signed with Thro Back Records in 2001 and began working on what would become their debut album. The album was recorded by producer John Lewis Parker and recorded at Suburban Hell studios in California. Lava Records pacted with Thro Back Records earlier this year and jointly released the band’s debut album on May 27th, 2003. For more information on Smile Empty Soul go to www.smileemptysoul.com.
