Following the release of Face For The Radio/Voice For A Silent Film (Deluxe) in May, poptropicaslutz! is entering a refreshing new era for the year ahead with “mdma keeps the doctor away” via Epitaph Records. Duo Nick Crawford and Christian Cicilia are constantly reinventing their sound, not to be boxed into the indie, rap, electronic, etc. genres.

On the new track, poptropicaslutz! plays with enticing elements of futuristic hyperpop, trippy synth tones, and beyond. It’s fair to say we are excited to see what the band has in store as they always keep us on our sonic toes.

The band explains of “mdma keeps the doctor away” that “it’s the perfect name for the song because sometimes an apple isn’t enough to solve all of your problems.”

Check out the official track and music video below.

Of the music video, the duo notes, “After spending 12 hours building an 8-foot glass box, we then realized we still had a video to shoot. We threw a party and had all the guests do something in the box, we think they enjoyed it.”

Overall, the ethos of always expanding their sound and range has remained constant for the artists. In a previous interview with idobi Radio’s Tate Logan last year, poptropicaslutz! explained that their unique music style for their 2023 album, Face For The Radio, is based on not wanting to limit themselves. “We didn’t want to make a project with one singular style, but rather an amalgamation of everything we do best.”
