Just weeks after taking the stage for his final performance with Black Sabbath on July 5, Ozzy Osbourne, the acclaimed Prince of Darkness, has tragically passed away at the age of 76. According to his family, he passed away in the early morning on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, “surrounded by love.”
The Osbournes shared in a family statement, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
Born John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne on December 3, 1948, Ozzy rose to fame as a founding member and frontman of Black Sabbath in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Following the band’s success, Ozzy kicked off his solo career in 1980 with his debut solo record, Blizzard Of Ozz. During his long and illustrious career, Ozzy released 13 solo albums and contributed to nine Black Sabbath albums. His final collection, both with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist, Patient Number 9, arrived in 2022.
