On November 29, TMZ broke the news of the passing of My Chemical Romance‘s former drummer Bob Bryar. On December 2, the band shared an official statement on Instagram.

The band shared, “It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Bob Bryar, our former bandmate and an important part of the history of My Chemical Romance. We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family at this time. May he rest in peace.”

Bryar was the group’s longest-standing drummer and served with My Chemical Romance from 2004 to 2010. He performed on The Black ParadeThe Black Parade Is Dead!, and Conventional Weapons while receiving songwriting credits on Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

Born on December 31, 1979, in Chicago, Illinois, Bryar initially trained as a jazz drummer and studied at a performing arts high school. Before joining My Chemical Romance, he worked as a sound engineer for bands like The Used. Bryar eventually replaced original My Chemical Romance drummer Matt Pelissier.

According to TMZ, “Bryar was found dead in his Tennessee home Tuesday after last being seen alive on November 4.”

The report continues, “Animal Control came to the house after the body—which we’re told was badly decomposed—was discovered and took two dogs away. The medical examiner is investigating the cause and manner of Bryar’s death.”

As of publication, the date of Bryar’s passing is also unknown. Everyone at idobi Radio is sending their deepest condolences to Bryar’s friends, family, fans, and former bandmates in My Chemical Romance.
