My Body Sings Electric recently inked a deal to become the stars of a second Entourage series on HBO. Mark Wahlberg–the inspiration for and producer of the hit show–overheard idobi Radio’s The Awful Truth “on some kid’s iPhone” while stuck in Logan Airport. By the end of the first episode, he was hooked on both the show and the band itself. Wahlberg, who was already in talks to reboot the franchise, this time with the focus on the music industry rather than Hollywood lights, connected with the “new to the game” point-of-view Jason, Brandon, Nick, Jeff, and Ben share every Tuesday. The new series aims to give the world a glimpse of what goes down when on tour, much the way the first edition of Entourage went behind the scenes on set.
Entourage 2 will also fictionalize My Body Sings Electric’s time in the studio, their responses to internet criticism and “colorful” fan fictions, and the occasional fan who wants their fanfic to come true. Jeremy Piven was reportedly asked to reprise his role as Ari Gold, the beloved character based on real Hollywood agent Ari Emanuel. Piven responded with a grin and his well known catchphrase, “Let’s hug it out, bitch.”
With the casting underway, all this and more will come your way next fall. In the meantime, a feature film based on the original Entourage is set to release in 2015.
