Lennon Tribute Rescheduled

“Come Together: A Night For John Lennon’s Words and Music,” the TNT tribute to the late Beatle, has been rescheduled for October 2nd at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall. The event was originally scheduled to take place tomorrow night, but was pushed back because of last week’s terrorist attacks. “Come Together” will now be televised live and is being billed as “a concert of prayer and healing for New York City” to benefit the American Red Cross and several other funds and relief organizations tied to the tragedy.

“The appropriateness of John Lennon’s words, message and music is even more timely now,” said TNT executive vice president and general manager Ken Ehrlich.

Dave Matthews and the Isley Brothers will now join Nelly Furtado, Moby, Lou Reed, Shelby Lynne, Stone Temple Pilots, Seal, Marc Anthony, Cyndi Lauper and Yolanda Adams to perform Lennon”s songs, with more artists expected to be added soon. Beck has pulled out of the event. Dave Stewart will still serve as the musical director, and Kevin Spacey will host.

“Come Together” is part of TNT’s Master Series, which has previously assembled all-star musical lineups to honor Brian Wilson, Joni Mitchell, Bob Marley, Johnny Cash and others.
