During the annual Charity Bowling Tournament and Concert in support of Charity Bomb and Unite The United Foundation on Friday, October 18, in Las Vegas, NV, Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman made his first public remarks on the return of the legendary tour.

Introduced by idobi Radio’s Fish of Gone Fishkin, Lyman took to the stage to thank everyone in attendance as well as discuss the future of Warped Tour and its return. “About two months ago, being a teacher now, I had a little tour I helped on this summer called Summer School—I don’t know if any of you got to go to that. I’d see the fans kind of gathering and the bands supporting each other—we had great bands: Magnolia Park, Scene Queen, Honey Revenge—and I saw that kind of same spirit in 1995 when I thought about starting a tour.”

He continues, “I’ve been working in business for a long time, and I really believe that that community was so important. I saw that spark this summer… I was sitting there and talking about this, and I was approached by someone who built their own community from Insomniac, who does all of the EDM stuff. He said, “Maybe are you interested?” …And I kind of got it back in my heart that maybe I could put something together. So all of those rumors that you’re hearing today—I can’t go out on a 40-city tour, my body won’t let me do it anymore—but we’re coming out with that same thing, and we’re gonna see where it goes.”

He concludes, “So yes, we’re coming back with the Vans Warped Tour this summer! And we’re gonna try to recapture the spirit of the nonprofits, the tents, the bands, all of those things… My motto for this whole festival is, ‘You pay homage to the past, but you look forward to the future of the artists and the community that we all need, especially at a time like this.’”

As Lyman exited the stage, idobi Radio’s Gunz of The Gunz Show took the stage to join the crowd with a Warped Tour chant before announcing the winners of the bowling event. Not to brag, but idobi Radio took third place… Not too shabby! Check out the full video below.

Warped Tour will make its comeback on June 14 and 15 in Washington D.C. at the RFK Campus festival grounds, July 26 and 27 in Long Beach, CA, at Shoreline Waterfront, and November 15 and 16 in Orlando, FL, at Camping World Stadium Campus. Tickets will be available at 12 PM ET/9 AM PT on Thursday, October 24. 2-day passes will start at $149.98 with fees included.

Additionally, ahead of When We Were Young Fest this weekend, Warped Tour has been handing out pamphlets and flyers announcing their monumental comeback.
