Punk rock has always been known for producing a wild card and, man, did Johnny Rotten prove that at a panel for Epix’s new docuseries, Punk. While with a team of legendary panelists, including Henry Rollins, Marky Ramone, + Donita Sparks, Johnny didn’t exactly keep his opinion to himself.
The Sex Pistols vocalist kicked things off with a few words for Black Flag vocalist Henry Rollins—specifically, that he didn’t like the band too much. Later he turned his attention to Marky Ramone, who he not so lovingly referred to as a “heavy-metal fucking reject.” Ouch.
Before things could get too far out of hand, L7’s Donita Sparks stepped in and cited both the Sex Pistols and the Ramones as her influences while reminding us that punk rock was meant to be unpolished, unrehearsed, and usually unbelievable. We’ll drink to that, Donita.
Catch clips of the action on Rolling Stone but just as a warning, you probably haven’t seen a panel like this before. After all, no one can get rowdier than a bunch of punks.
