Janet Jackson Signs with New Manager

Los Angeles – Los Angeles-based firm Wright Crear Management, operated by Kenneth Crear and Johnny Wright, will oversee the singer’s career, which hit a rough patch this year.

Her televised “wardrobe malfunction” during the Super Bowl halftime show Feb. 1 ignited a public outcry, for which Jackson apologized publicly. Despite protests to the contrary from Jackson’s camp, that bit of TV exposure was widely viewed as a stunt to promote Jackson’s then-forthcoming Virgin album “Damita Jo.” But singles from the set died quickly at radio, and the collection enjoyed only a brief shelf life after its release in March.

Jackson has had no formal management for some months. Until the spring, she was handled by Lindsay Scott Management in Los Angeles. She performs a duet with Chingy on his new album “Powerballin’,” due Tuesday via Capitol Records.
