Incubus’s Morning View reached platinum status for sales of 1 million copies, and Staind’s Break The Cycle reached the quadruple platinum mark for sales of 4 million copies, as certified by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger revealed that a lot of the inspiration for Morning View came from the second floor of their rented Malibu beach house. “It was a room with a nice big ocean view, and we just brought everything in there, set up the control room, the recording console, all the equipment.”
He added, “It was just like, perfect. We would just sat in there and go, ‘Wow! This is the best place to record an album, ever.’ I think it really came out in the music, and I don’t know if I will ever be happy to record in a normal studio ever again.”
Staind is set to release its next single from Break The Cycle, “For You,” but the band’s last, “Fade,” is still Number Five and climbing on the Billboard Modern Rock chart.
