Inbox Jukebox #010 – Whissell, JoLivi, IDestroy, Shorelines, Doll Skin, The White Noise, Never Say Die + LeRiche

We’re totally non-compliant this weekend. Here’s your soundtrack for a day well spent reading Bitch Planet and Resisting.

You know what? We officially proclaim this the Girl-Takes-Power Weekend. Rebel, Resist, and Evolve accordingly. This is the Inbox Jukebox:

Whissell – “Legs Crossed”

Put your hands together because we’ve got a new girl-takes-power anthem for the weekend. Tell ’em what you want while singing along to the throaty vocals of Whissell. And if you give ’em the finger at the end of the song, well, it’s just because you’re number 1.

JoLivi – “Love Who You Wanna Love”

Here’s another ‘we’ll do what we want’ anthem. We girls are posting notice: We won’t be relegated to red cloaks and wings—we will have our own names, and we’ll love who we wanna love. Now let JoLivi put music to the movement and get your runway stomp on!

IDestroy – “98%”

When we listen to IDestroy we can’t help but imagine Chrissie Hynde smiling, and anything that makes Chrissie Hynde smile makes us feel rebellious too.

Shorelines – “New Heights”

The smell of summer is on the air, and that can only mean one thing—it’s time to bust out all the finest pop punk to soundtrack the sunny skies. Brisbane’s Shorelines are the new pop punk kids on the block, and they’re destined to put a smile on your face and a new song on your playlist next to the likes of All Time Low and State Champs. Hit play and “Just close your eyes and help take on the world” with this track as your anthem.

Doll Skin – “Shut Up (You Miss Me)”

We’re getting all up in yo’ face on today’s jukebox. Doll Skin keeps our special mix of pop-punk-rock belligerence going with their latest “Shut Up (You Miss Me)”. No for real, shut the hell up and let and let Doll Skin rock you awake—they’re so good at it!

The White Noise – “Bite Marks”

Yeah, we heard about what Chester said…and he’s right. Artists have to make the music they want to make, when they want to make it. But if you’re missing the heavier tunes that used to come out of the “the park” then The White Noise is coming to the rescue. “Bite Marks” has all the rock and growl that its title suggests—it creeps up and sonically eviscerates you. Let your inner beast out…you’re welcome. To The White Noise (and to LP), Keep making the music you wanna make.

Never Say Die – “Like A Nightmare”

There’s something about a song that creeps up on you, that we love. “Like A Nightmare” is one of those songs. Never Say Die infuses their latest with such a fatalistic groove that we had to break out our thigh-high black leather boots and dance on the balcony in a t-shirt and super shorts. Good morning, neighbors, enjoy the rock show!

LeRiche – “Under Covers”

You can’t help but sway when you listen to LeRiche’s “Under Covers”. We’d swear this is the leadoff track to a modern musical that hasn’t been written yet. Damien Chazelle, are you listening? “Under Covers” would’ve been a hit on the La La Land soundtrack—we just hope it counts that it’s already a hit in our hearts.
