Illuminati Hotties Cover Neck Deep’s “December” For Hopeless Records 30th Anniversary

Forget about Mariah Carey, Neck Deep are officially defrosting as we draw closer to December and the holiday season. While we’re all preparing to listen to the THREE versions of Neck Deep’s “December” (featuring blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba, respectively) on an endless loop during the titular month, we’ve got a new cover of the track to add into rotation. Illuminati Hotties, led by the enigmatic Sarah Tuzdin, has launched their indie pop cover of “December” for the Hopeless Records Hopelessly Devoted To You compilation album. 

Opening through an understated tonality of acoustic guitars, Tudzin’s emotional delivery glides over the stripped-back first verse before transforming the pop-punk anthem into a powerful indie-pop ballad. The soft-to-loud moments highlight the feelings of love, loss, desperation, and loneliness that underscore the length of the track.
