Sublime wrapped an absolutely incredible idobi session with their magnum opus, “Santeria.” After performing two new tracks from their latest full-length effort, Until The Sun Explodes, the band returned to their roots with the song that has transcended generations. Sublime performed three songs in total during their idobi session— The title track from their record and recent #1 alternative radio hit, “Until The Sun Explodes,” a fan-favorite B-side, “Can’t Miss You,” and now the legendary “Santeria.” A one, two, three punch from a band that has made itself a household name over the last several decades.
Though the band has seen many iterations over the years, with members coming and going to try to honor the late and great Bradley Nowell, the current line-up feels the truest to Sublime’s legacy. Bradley Nowell’s son, Jakob Nowell, has an uncanny resemblance in sound to his father’s voice. It is certainly recognizable in their newer music, but undeniable when performing their older discography.
Watch as Sublime perform “Santeria” and get teleported back in time to the sound that made this band great in the first place. Nothing will ever replace Bradley Nowell, but watching his own flesh and blood pour his heart into this song is emotionally riveting and perhaps the closest we’ll ever get to the real thing. May the legacy of Sublime live forever.
