2019 is the year of the most ambitious team-up in cinematic history. Yup, the Fast & Furious franchise is racing away with our hearts once again: Presenting its new standalone film Hobbs & Shaw. That’s right, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are putting their epic Fast & Furious rivalry on hold. Wait, what? Hell must have frozen over…or there’s an even bigger rivalry on its way in the form of Idris Elba’s character. We’ll pause while you recover.
Elba plays a bulletproof super-cyber-human anarchist, by the name of Brixton, who’s stolen a bio-weapon that could change the fate of humanity. The law-enforcing agent Luke Hobbs (Johnson) and the law-breaking outcast Deckard Shaw (Statham) must band together to stop this evil mastermind. Of course that means there’s plenty of epic explosions, fight & chase scenes, and hilarious banter. Just ’cause Hobbs & Shaw are on the same side now doesn’t mean they’re gonna be instant BBFs (best bros forever). Seriously, this teaser is one delightful thrill-ride.
