Hey Monday made a triumphant return to the stage at this year’s When We Were Young Fest in Las Vegas, NV, marking their first live performance since 2019. The pop-rock band, led by vocalist Cassadee Pope, was billed for an unforgettable full album playthrough of their 2008 studio album Hold On Tight.
While this isn’t the first time that Pope has performed on the acclaimed When We Were Young stage—she joined Yellowcard and Michelle Branch for special guest appearances in 2023—this is the first Hey Monday set at the annual festival. Kicking off the set, as the band bled into one of their hit singles, “Homecoming,” Pope was joined on stage by Tonight Alive, Daisy Grenade, and We Are The In Crowd. Pope shares that if this festival didn’t have women playing, they’d be “basic.” Watch Hey Monday perform a star-studded rendition of “Homecoming” below.
Hey Monday will be performing tomorrow, October 20 at 9:05 PM on the Verizon Stage. The group has not confirmed any future plans beyond their When We Were Young appearance this weekend.
More on Hey Monday
Best known for their infectious blend of pop-punk and rock, Hey Monday originally parted ways in 2011. At that time, Cassadee Pope was on the verge of embarking on her solo career. Pope shared the following in a statement in December 2011. “I wanted to let you all know that Hey Monday is not ‘broken up’. We are, however, taking a break and pursuing things on our own. In my case, that is a solo project. I hope you all understand that this does not mean we’ll never release new music or tour ever again.”
“Me and the guys are still friends and always will be… This was a decision we all agreed was for the best,” Pope continued. “I could not have imagined experiencing everything we were able to with a different group of people, our crew included!”
