Green Day drummer Tre Cool checked in with fans via the band’s official Web site (www.greenday.com), giving them a vague update on the progress of the band’s upcoming new album. “This is what’s fucking going fucking on,” says Tre Cool. “We’re practicing every fucking day and we sound pretty good I might add. We officially put up the list of songs for the new record now on the wall of our jam space – sort of a tradition. We put a list up there and we add songs when we get them writ. So we’ve got some songs writ and got them practiced kick tight. That’s about it.”
As for a release date, the drummer reports the album will be in stores “sometime not so soon.” Calls to Warner Bros. Records for a more specific answer were not returned by press time.
Meanwhile, as Green Day churns out new songs for the follow-up to 2000’s Warning, the band is also rehearsing for its upcoming tour of Japan (kicking off March 29 in Sapporo) and its Pop Disaster tour with Blink-182, Jimmy Eat World, and Saves the Day (allstar, Feb. 14) (commencing on April 17 in Bakersfield, Calif.).
