Green Day Officially Releases ‘American Idiot’ 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition

If you were alive when Green Day‘s American Idiot came out, you qualify for a senior discount, as the iconic album is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in a big way with a deluxe edition release.

Of the deluxe release, the band shared on their social platforms, “In the summer of 2004, Green Day entered the studio with Rob Cavallo to create American Idiot, uncertain of what the future held. They were audacious, rebellious, and stressed out by the state of the country at the time. American Idiot was crafted as a response to the daily bombardment of media that spreads it far and wide, making us desensitized and weary -filled with themes that still ring true today, even 20 years later.”

Alongside releasing the 57-song deluxe edition LP on streaming services, Green Day curated a variety of limited-edition box sets available in eight vinyls and 4 CDs, and each box set also includes two Blu-ray discs. The deluxe collection will also feature 15 unreleased American Idiot demos, 14 songs previously available only as B-Sides and bonus tracks, live tracks from their 2004 Irving Plaza performance, and 9 previously unreleased live recordings.
