The Jason Aalon Butler-led FEVER 333 is reminding everyone that there’s a fever coming… The four-piece group—comprised of Butler at the helm alongside guitarist Brandon Davis (Lions Lions), drummer Thomas Pridgen ( The Mars Volta, Thundercat, Trash Talk), and bassist April Kae (IMANIGOLD)—have unleashed the fever with their blistering new single, “READY ROCK.” The track, which was produced by FEVER 333 with co-production courtesy of Beach Noise and Glassjaw‘s Justin Beck, marks the collective’s first new music since issuing “$wing” last spring when their new lineup launched. It also offers a glimpse into the group’s forthcoming sophomore album. The highly-anticipated record is expected to arrive later this year, but currently does not have a release date announced.

In honor of Black History Month, FEVER 333‘s latest offering is a proud and powerful homage celebrating Black voices in rock music—voices of the past, present, and future. The empowering track explodes with a fiery blend of heavy instrumentation, welcoming Butler‘s signature rap-rock prowess as he leads the charge with the biting opening lines: “Be careful they knockin’/At your doorstep, but they cannot walk in/But if you invite them in/Biting is what they do best.”

Across the length of “READY ROCK,” Butler and co. aim to amplify Black voices, calling out the music industry’s ignorance in not giving Black artists the proper credit for all they’ve contributed to the industry. Exemplified by lines such as “Wouldn’t have them hits/If you we ain’t give you them shits” and “Behind everything that you love is a history of hate/I know this shit is hard to hear,” FEVER 333 are fighting for every Black voice that hasn’t been heard and giving Black artists, producers, engineers, and more, the credit they’re long overdue.
