Duff "Fan" Sentenced for Stalking

If it looks for a Duff, and repeatedly tries to contact a Duff…it just might be a stalker.
An 18-year-old Russian immigrant arrested for threatening
Hilary Duff was sentenced Friday to 117 days in Los Angeles County jail
and five years probations after pleading no contest to a felony
stalking charge. Police picked up Maksim Myaskovskiy in November after a
private investigator from the security firm Duff uses for protection
said that the teenager had threatened to kill the starlet at an
industry event. The accused originally pleaded innocent but he remained
in custody, unable to come up with $1 million for bail. In October, Duff and then-boyfriend Joel Madden obtained
100-yard restraining orders against Myaskovskiy and his roommate,
paparazzo David Joseph Klein, accusing the younger man of being
obsessed with the Lizzie Maguire star and his older pal of trying to
approach Duff and her beau on his behalf. According to the ex-couple’s complaint, Myaskovskiy traveled
to the U.S. two years ago solely for the purpose of making contact with
Duff. Court documents also alleged that Myaskovskiy had become obsessed
with the A Cinderella Story heroine and was intending to buy a gun in
order to commit dramatic acts to get her attention. The order of protection against Klein was dropped last month
after the photog–saying that his role in the situation was
misunderstood and that he had tried to get Myaskovskiy, who he actually
didn’t know very well, to seek counseling–issued an apology to Duff and
Madden, promised to not contact either of them again and agreed to
cooperate with the rest of the investigation. Also not communicating these days is Duff and Madden, who
went their separate ways in November. The 27-year-old Good Charlotte
frontman has reportedly rebounded with Nicole Richie, and he and his
band mates have a new album, Good Morning Revival, due out Mar. 20. Up next for Duff, 19, is the animated mess fest Foodfight!,
in which she voices the cheerily named Sunshine Goodness, and the
international intrigue dark comedy Brand Hauser: Stuff Happens with
John Cusack, Ben Kingsley and Marisa Tomei.
