DMC Releasing Mellow Solo Album

Expect a different kind of rhyme from Darryl McDaniels, better known as DMC of Run DMC, when his debut album is released later this year.

McDaniels says his new record reflects the mellow mood he’s in these days. He describes it as “Bob Dylan meets Neil Young and the Rolling Stones.”

McDaniels, 36, contributed very little to Run DMC’s new record, “Crown Royal,” which is filled with collaborations with such hot young artists as Kid Rock and Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst. McDaniels said he stopped working on the record because he’s not into that kind of music anymore.

“I wanted to work with Sheryl Crow,” he told The Associated Press. “I wanted to work with Eric Clapton.”

McDaniels’ frustrations were so great that he saw a psychiatrist, who encouraged him to bow out and work on his own material.
