It may sound unreal, but Sum 41 has traveled around the world on their farewell tour, and tonight, January 30 marks their final stop. They will be bidding adieu at tonight’s sold-out show at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto with PUP and Gob. Lead vocalist Deryck Whibley offered a heartfelt message to fans of the band on Instagram.
He says, “Tonight we say goodbye. What a life. What a ride. What a wild time. From being a high school band that actually made it, to taking on the world and achieving everything I ever dreamed of. It’s been heaven, hell ,and everything in-between but I wouldn’t change a minute of it.”

He continues, “The highs in my life have been so great, that it’s almost felt undeserving at times. And the lows, well, most of them have been well documented. But I’ve learned a few things on this journey so far. The highs just don’t feel as good without the lows. And without getting through the lows, I wouldn’t be the person I feel proud to be today. The hard times are what make life interesting.”
Whibely adds, “If we just went through life never fighting battles, we’d never grow, learn or get stronger.
I have so much excitement for change and growth and can’t wait to see where life goes next. At this point in my life, I only worry about what’s in my control and just let life happen as it’s supposed to.”
He concludes, “I have no idea what’s in store for me in the next chapter, and I’m honestly not thinking about it yet. All know is I couldn’t be happier with the way this story has played out for far. The only thing on my mind in this moment is giving the city that I love, everything I’ve got for one last and final concert. See you soon Toronto.”
Though, the band technically still has one more performance on the docket, so don’t get out those tissues just yet. Sum 41 is scheduled to perform at the 2025 JUNO Awards, which is set to air on CBC.
We wish Sum 41 the best of luck on their last tour stop and hope that the future is full of rest and relaxation.
