Daisy Grenade just put their musical theater backgrounds to perfect use by dropping a cover of “For Good,” from Wicked—and currently popularized by the theatrical release of Wicked: For Good starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. And yes—it does come with a little pop-punk edge. Frankly, this cover is going to be very “popular” on the idobi staff playlists.
The two surprise-dropped the track on streaming platforms following their December 9 show at Joe’s Pub. Check out Dani Nigro and Keaton Whittaker take on the roles of Glinda and Elphaba below.
While at Joe’s Pub, the duo performed “For Good” live as an encore. Excitingly, Daisy Grenade spent the evening covering an array of Broadway hits from “Seventeen” from Heathers, “Your Obedient Servant” from Hamilton, and even “21 Guns” from American Idiot.
And if that wasn’t exciting enough, Daisy Grenade had exciting guests, including Adam Kantor—best known for his Broadway role as Mark Cohen in Rent—and Hey Monday‘s Cassadee Pope, who has been showing up and showing out on off-Broadway musicals this year.
Luckily, if you didn’t get a chance to see the show in person, you can catch the livestream from Joe’s Pub right now.
