Chase Petra returns today with a brand new indie pop track, “Soda Pop.” The new tune follows “405” as the second single from her upcoming EP, A Terrible Ennui, out June 6. Chase Petra is known to deliver earnest, relatable lyricism over catchy guitar riffs and “Soda Pop” is no different.
“I had been rudely reminded of the fact that my femininity would always outclass my humanity in terms of how the world interacts with my body. I’ve been really lucky in my career as a musician to have worked in largely queer spaces, which have always made me feel very simply myself but every once in a blue moon I step out of that bubble and into a culture that cannot help but point with accusatory fingers at the parts of me that look and feel like a girl. It can be jarring to say the least.”
