Chase Petra is gearing up to release their new album Lullabies For Dogs, which is due out on March 7 via Wax Bodega. Today, the group shared a sliver of what’s to come with “A Bug’s Life,” which is preceded by the single “Centrifugal Force.”

The quirky, twangy track is delightful and perfectly full of rage. Chase Petra’s upcoming sophomore full-length isn’t just a want, it’s a true necessity for some musical catharsis.

The band notes, “‘A Bug’s Life’ is about not being the bigger person. It is about the moments in which violence could be the answer. It’s about being just as small as the itty-bitty, minuscule fools that hurt you first. It’s about telling people that deserve to eat dirt to choke.”

They continue, “We live in a society that venerates this idea of being polite and kind and quiet even whilst people with less empathy and self-awareness than a rock take aim and shoot whenever the urge overtakes them. High road? In your dreams.”

Finally, Chase Petra says, “This song is a declaration. One in which I refuse to be the perfect victim, unmarred by anger, or god forbid, agency. I don’t have a clean record and I don’t want one. And the consequences – be it guilt or burnt bridges or whatever else – are things that I’m prepared to endure. Because I’ve reached the end of a 27-year-long rope. Because I am not a punching bag and I don’t know why so many people have forgotten that I’ve got fists too.”
