carolesdaughter, aka singer Thea Taylor, is back with a jazzy new single, “Virginia Slims,” preceded by 2024 singles “King Baby” “beautiful girls (get the ugliest world)” and “i love my man (he just doesn’t know it yet).”
carolesdaughter explains, “Like a lot of my music and writing, ‘Virginia Slims’ is about embracing your own sensitivity. Becoming comfortable and aware of your self-destructive and isolating behavior. Owning the way you cope and resigning to being no one else’s ‘problem.'”
She continues, “This was the first jazz-influenced song I ever made, and it came together so naturally. My G.O.A.T. Amy [Winehouse] was a huge inspiration, and I’ve always loved Soul and Motown—it will always be timeless to me. I wanted to capture that classic feel while still being my dramatic, honest self.”
