Carole King-Her Greatest Hits (Songs of Long Ago), has been certified platinum by the RIAA on September 4. The compilation was originally released in March, 1978 and reissued by Sony Legacy in May, 1999. This certification joins Music and Rhymes & Reasons as King’s third Platinum album award, which she now adds to six Gold albums and her Diamond award-winning 1971 album Tapestry. Tapestry stayed on Billboard magazine’s Top 200 album chart for an incredible 302 consecutive weeks and was the best-selling solo album by a female artist for over 25 years.
Her 24th solo album release, Love Makes The World, arrives September 25 on her own label, Rockingale Records. The new album, distributed by the Koch Entertainment Label Alliance (KELA), is now available by advance order at CDNow and Amazon.com, and the limited edition inaugural shipment includes expanded materials. King will launch caroleking.com in conjunction with the album release, a site developed personally by King for her fans. The site will feature links to video interviews, extensive liner notes in installments for the new album, as well as news, personal notes and thoughts from King herself on everything from family to the environment. Planned for future release on the website is a comprehensive Timeline of her four-decade career, as well as a detailed Discography page representing her career as both an artist and songwriter.
