R&B star Brandy was involved in a serious road traffic accident last month which left one woman dead, it has been revealed.
According to the BBC, the 27-year-old entertainer, full name Brandy Norwood, hit the back of another car while travelling at around 65mph on a California highway on December 30th.
A report by the California Highway Patrol reveals Norwood’s car failed to slow down and hit a car driven by Awatef Aboudihaj, who’s car hit another before sliding across the highway into the path of another fast-moving vehicle. The final collision resulted in the death of Ms Aboudihaj, after she was transferred to hospital.
Her death was ruled an accident, although the incident is now being investigated, and all four cars impounded for inspection. Police added that Norwood was alone when the accident happened, and no alcohol or drugs were involved.
“We’ve impounded all four vehicles, and the outcome of the mechanical inspection is coming to us today or tomorrow,” said California Highway Patrol spokesman Leland Tang.
“Barring any mechanical difficulties on Brandy’s part there’s the very high probability that she is the party most at fault or the contributing party.”
Brandy’s publicist issued a statement expressing her grief at the accident. “She wishes to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased.”
