BMG Senior VP of Sales and Marketing Mike Mjehovich today announced the appointment of Larry Karpen to the post of director of marketing for BMG Special Products. The appointment is effective immediately.
In his new role, Karpen will be responsible for all marketing activities for the company’s Premium and Incentive business, including print and online advertising, direct communication campaigns, sales collateral creation, web site management, new product development, public relations, market research, and end-user customer service. In addition, he will continue to spearhead marketing efforts for the company’s audio and DVD catalog business. Karpen will be based in New York and report directly to Mjehovich.
“Larry has played a key role in BMG Special Products’ success,” said Mjehovich. “I’m confident he will continue to be a tremendous asset in his new role.”
Since May 2000, Karpen has served as associate director of marketing where he created BMGSP’s first integrated branding/advertising campaign and re-launched the company’s B2B website. He also led the effort to put the Music Awards gift certificate program online as well as introduce the Premium Downloads application (allowing corporate clients to use digital downloaded music for promotional programs).
Prior to joining BMG Special Products, he was a Brand Manager for Reckitt Benckiser, the world’s largest manufacturer of household cleaning products. During his three-year tenure there, Karpen worked on the GLASS PLUS and Professional LYSOL brands. Karpen received his MBA in Marketing & Finance from Fordham University.
