Blink-182 Stump for Kerry

Avid C-Span viewer and Blink-182 guitarist Tom DeLonge is stumping for Democratic Presidential nominee John Kerry on the campaign trail.

“I’m only twenty-eight, and I spent the last twelve years in a band, trying to ruin my life,” DeLonge says. “But Kerry’s awesome! Ever since he got out of Vietnam, he’s come back and led the most amazing life, bettering himself the whole way.”

DeLonge – whose brother Shon is a member of the Navy’s Special Forces stuck in the Middle East – has been helping out the Kerry campaign for the past two months, chasing the skate-punk vote. Blink-182’s Web site (blink182.com) also features a link to a site to sign up Kerry volunteers with the message “Tom DeLonge wants you! Make a difference. Help John Kerry in his bid to become President.” Don’t be surprised to hear Blink talking politics from the stage during their summer tour with No Doubt, set to begin June 1st in Noblesville, Indiana.

“The scariest thing in the world is going to be if Bush is elected president again – I’ll have to move out of the country,” DeLonge says. “But I’m scared he might bomb whatever country I go to.”
