During her November 6 show in Nashville at Bridgestone Arena, Billie Eilish took time out of her set to share a speech following the U.S. election results declaring convicted felon Donald Trump the winner. On top of endorsing Kamala Harris, Eilish was an outspoken supporter of the VP during her shows ahead of Election Day.
She told the audience, “Waking up this morning, I kind of couldn’t fathom doing a show on this day. But the longer the day went on I kind of had this feeling of it’s such a privilege I get to do this with you guys and that we have this in a time that… I just love you so much and I want you to know that you’re safe with me. You’re protected here and you’re safe in this room.”

Ahead of playing “Your Power,” Eilish noted that it’s a song about “abuse that exists in this world upon women and a lot of the experiences that I have gone through and people I know have gone through. To tell you the truth, I’ve never met one single woman who doesn’t have a story of abuse. Not one. I’ve dealt with some stuff myself and I’ve been taken advantage of.”
Eilish added, “Someone who hates women so, so deeply is about to be the President of the United States of America. So, this song is for all the women out there. I love you, I support you.”
On top of sharing this speech, Eilish played her track “TV,” which features the lyrics, “The internet’s gone wild watching movie stars on trial/While they’re overturning Roe v. Wade.” After singing this line, Eilish took a step back and ended the track on this poignant lyric.
Following the election results, Eilish’s emotional, somber song “What Was I Made For?” from the Barbie soundtrack jumped 39 spots in the global Spotify charts. Previously in January, while accepting a 2024 Chairman Award, Eilish shared, “I want to dedicate to anyone who experiences hopelessness and the feeling of existential dread and feeling like, what’s the point and why am I here and why am I doing this for?” The sentiment is, frankly, timeless.
