While most artists wait to put out a live album until several years into their careers, Avril Lavigne has decided one year on the scene is long enough. The 18-year-old singer has announced plans to release a live CD and DVD titled My World in either September or October.
The performances were recorded during the pop star’s recently completed North American headlining tour. The DVD of My World will include backstage footage and interviews with Lavigne, in addition to the live performances.
The “Complicated” singer is currently working on the follow-up album to her multi-platinum debut, Let Go. Lavigne said she enjoys spending time in the studio, but it doesn’t compare to being on stage. “I love being in the studio,” says Lavigne. “It’s really great. I like it a lot. But of course, I like performing more. But when I’m in the studio mode, it’s cool. I like to really focus on it.”
Those clamoring for new material from Lavigne won’t have to wait for her forthcoming album. She contributes the song “I Don’t Give” to the American Wedding soundtrack, arriving July 22.
