Avril Lavigne Fights Web Imposter

Avril Lavigne (news) is taking on a virtual battle, but she doesn’t know who she’s trying to catch.

The 17-year-old musician writes on her web site that someone is posing as her and sending e-mail messages to her fans. She says that this person is “dissing my fans and just being a jerk in general.”

The person is using an AOL address and keeps changing it, but always seems to include ‘Avril’ in it.

Lavigne says she does not have an AOL account and she’d never put her name in her e-mail address.

She says she loves all her fans and would never say anything bad about them.

Lavigne broke onto the music scene earlier this year with her hit single “Complicated” and the song “Sk8er Boi.” She recently won an MTV Video Music Award in the “Best New Artist in a Video” category.
