Alice Cooper To Receive Living Legend Award, Sets Tour Dates

Alice Cooper has been named the recipient of this year’s Living Legend Award from the International Horror Guild, marking the first time the Guild has reached beyond the literary world to give someone the honor.

Previous winners have included authors Ray Bradbury, Harlan Ellison, and Clive Barker, among others. The award is given to those “who have made a meritorious and notable contribution and/or have substantially influenced the field of horror and dark fantasy.” Cooper’s award will be handed out Saturday (September 1) at Atlanta’s Hyatt Regency Hotel as part of the weekend-long Dragon*Con, one of the largest conventions in the U.S. devoted to science fiction, fantasy, horror, and comics.

That’s not the only thing Cooper’s got going on in the near future. The veteran shock rocker has announced a fall North American tour in support of his new album, Dragontown, that kicks off September 29 in Las Vegas and ends November 9 in Pompano Beach, Florida, with a Halloween performance planned for New York City’s Roseland. The outing will be another theatrical excursion that brings to life the 12 songs on Dragontown, which were composed mostly by Cooper and Bob Marlette, who collaborated on 2000’s Brutal Planet. Bob Ezrin, who produced landmark Cooper albums such as Love It To Death, Killer, and Billion Dollar Babies, co-produced Dragontown, which is due October 9 on Spitfire Records.
