Judging by the performers announced so far for the Teen Choice Awards, this year’s show is shaping up to be a veritable Carter Family reunion – and we don’t mean the legendary first family of country music.
Rather, Aaron and Nick of teen pop’s gifted Carter clan will perform together at the third annual awards ceremony, to be broadcast August 12 on Fox from Universal City, California’s Universal Amphitheatre, according to a spokesperson from Seventeen magazine, one of the show’s sponsors.
While the duet will mark the siblings’ first televised performance together, the brothers have been seeing a lot of each other with microphones in hand recently. Nick helped his younger brother on two tracks for Aaron’s forthcoming second album, Oh Aaron: “Not Too Young, Not Too Old” and the title track.
And since the Backstreet Boys postponed their Black & Blue world tour earlier this month, Nick has made surprise appearances on four dates of Aaron’s tour with his sister Leslie and the A*Teens, according to a Jive spokesperson (see “Aaron Carter Hits Road With A*Teens”). Oh Aaron is scheduled for an August 7 release.
Additional details of this year’s Teen Choice Awards will be announced soon, the Seventeen spokesperson said.
