The Ramona Flowers Perform “Hey You” Live At idobi Radio Studios

The Ramona Flowers Hey You WEB HEADER

Fresh off the success of their chart-topping single “Up All Night,” featuring the legendary record producer and guitarist Nile Rodgers, which soared to No. 27 on the Alt Radio Chart earlier this year, The Ramona Flowers made an exciting appearance at the idobi Radio Studios in North Hollywood, CA. There, they put on an exclusive and mesmerizing performance of their March 2023 hit single, “Hey You,” extracted from their acclaimed 5-track EP of the same name. The ensemble, vocalist Steve Bird, guitarist Sam Dyson, keyboardist/guitarist Dave Betts, and drummer Ed Gallimore, brought their signature energy and passion to the studio to fill the studio.

“‘Hey You’ wasn’t the easiest song to write,” lead vocalist Steve Bird shared of the track at the time of its release in March 2023. “It was originally two separate melodies from two different songs put together, but we always knew that it had something. So we persisted with it, and finally one night after a few Guinness’s, it finally clicked, and it’s been a mainstay in our live show ever since.”

Diverging from the infectious, buoyant synth-heavy sonic landscape that defines the original studio recording of “Hey You,” The Ramona Flowers transformed the track, presenting an alluring, slowed-down, stripped-back acoustic reimagining. This new version renewed the song’s life, unveiling its raw emotional depth and vulnerability. As the acoustic-driven arrangement unfolded, the chorus of “Hey You” burst through the layered vocal chorus, echoing, “I said Hey you/You always get your own way/Your own way/You gotta go.”
