Vocalist Mikalia Delgado shares the inspiration behind the new release. “You turn away from all their red flags because you have so much hope that they can be the person you created in your dreams. I realized that we as people crave acceptance from the people who make us feel we are not enough. On the other side, some people use that power to their advantage.”
The catchy chorus brims with confusion, remorse, and pleading, navigating through a toxic situation. “Do I lie to myself and say I’m to blame?/Is there anything left of this mess that we made?/And as hard as I try/We’re stuck in a way.” Despite the band embarking in a new direction sonically, the three-piece stays true to its energetic foundation. Across “Call My Name,” you hear the group leveling up with sultry vocals, low bass riffs, and playing with electro beds. Piling these aspects together truly ushers in a fresh perspective from the band that will leave fans excited for this next era.
Listeners will likely hear the new track live at the Tony Hawk Pro Skater show in Brisbane, Australia, on January 27 at the Fortitude Music Hall. You can find tickets for the show on their site.
