Written By Wolves Shower Us In “Misery” With New Track

Photo via Press

Written By Wolves have shared a brand new track. Kicking off 2023 in style with the release of the gigantic “GIVE ‘EM HELL”, the New Zealand quartet are taking things up a notch. Creating rock music that is as cinematic as it is crushing, they are on a real hot streak. And that’s where “Misery” comes in.

On the surface, the track is an arena-ready stomper. Built on the foundations of a chorus of angels and possessing the sort of razor-sharp melodies that cut to the bone, it’s a fist-in-the-air anthem. But as you dig deeper, you see that is much more than that. It’s a battle cry for things getting better. A call to arms for not wanting to stew in darkness. It’s a positivity-fueled plea for a life worth living, and that’s special in its own way.

Vocalist Michael Murphy has explained a bit further:

“The new track is an emphatic plea for something more in life than what we have been sold. The broken mental health systems, the loneliness and isolation felt by so many in a day and age in which we are more connected than ever, the over worked and stretched teachers, nurses, doctors, and employees in almost every industry, inequality in almost every aspect of society and a self-serving, capitalist ideal that is not designed to aid or look after the well-being of people, humanity, or the planet, yet continues to roll on with the ferocity of a runaway steam train.

“Yet, through all this, the song implores hope, that there has to be more than this and there has to be a way to dig ourselves out of the hole we find ourselves in–that we are not just made for misery and through all the negativity there is beauty in the world and the desire of those that wish to change it for the better.
