Wilmette are going to be releasing their debut full-length album later this year. That’s something to look forward to. But for now, they’ve given a taster of what to expect, and it’s set to get you REALLY excited.
The track they’ve shared is called “Playing Dead” and is pop-punk at its absolute best. Impassioned riffs, poetic refrains, emotional depth and plenty of shirt-tugging anthemics thrown in for good measure, it’s a sign of big things to come and an indicator of just how much Wilmette have grown over the years. If this is just the tip of the iceberg, we are in for a proper treat with what’s still to come.
Vocalist Aaron Hailey had this to say about it:
“After a long break from writing, “Playing Dead” was the first song we wrote together in over a year since our previous release. Much of the song came together in the studio, with the help of our producer Seth Henderson at ABG.”
It’s the first music from the band since their self-titled EP dropped back in 2020. Here is “Adderall” from that very release:
