While She Sleeps has released their new single, “To The Flowers,” off of their upcoming full-length, Self Hell. It will be their first full-length since 2021 and comes out on March 29. The British act also dropped a cinematic music video to accompany the single to showcase the loss of simplicity and optimism.

Vocalist Loz Taylor explains that the video flows through continuous tragedy. “‘To The Flowers’ is emotional, tragic, and real life. We intended to make a short film that encompasses the real emotions of relationships, grief, love, death, and pain.” With scenes running in motion, cut scenes of small joys in day-to-day life to terrible situations that destroy the main characters formulate the anxiety, despair, and reality that everyone feels.

Truly, the band blends metalcore riffs with a touch of indie-rock energy. The opening establishes a similar tone of a coming-of-age flick that slowly introduces the viewer, well listener in this case, to a metallic-filled moment of exploring the murkier aspect of real life. During the breakdown, synths slowly creep in and become a prominent aspect of the falling action of the track. It grows the emotional toll of a falling roller coaster that never ends while a flashing picture of your life flashes before your eyes.

“This song has nearly brought us all to tears multiple times,” says guitarist Sean Long. “it touches something in us that we hold very dear. A pain we all know and have felt down to our deepest core. The essence of our personal pain expressed in music is what the band is all about. Talking about the things we know are difficult but necessary.”

Last year, the group dropped the title track to the incoming LP. In late 2023, a second song, “Down,” featuring Alex Taylor of Malevolence, was released. With the bomb they dropped on fans with their third single, it’s safe to say this next album is going to be devastating in the best way possible.
