Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong is always out and about doing something. Whether it’s travelling the world or working on music with other exciting artists, he likes to make sure that he has his finger on the pulse of what is happening.
And that’s how things like this happen.
Billie found himself in London this past weekend (May 13). He nipped into Slim Jims, the famous dive bar in the heart of Islington. That’s when he saw that the band Borderline Toxic were playing a set. More specifically, they were covering the Green Day classic “Basket Case”.
So much like how anyone would, he jumped on stage to surprise the band and sang a few verses with them. And he sounded as amazing as ever. The band looked just as stoked as the audience as well. It’s a beautiful example of ‘right time, right place’ that resulted in a moment that nobody in attendance will ever forget.
