Ultra Q Share Lovely New Track “Rocket”

Ultra Q, the band fronted by Jakob Armstrong, son of Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, are heading toward the release of their debut album My Guardian Angel this Summer. And they have shared a fresh taster of it that is so effortlessly beautiful you’re going to be thinking about it all day.

That taster is “Rocket”, a slow-building piece of indie brilliance, that glistens with droplets of pop sensibility and emotional sentiment. It’s another example of Ultra Q being able to deliver alternative music that feels as timeless as it does fresh.

Jakob had this to say about it:

This was a tricky one. Originally there were two demos for the song. The first titled Rocket, and the second titled Bon Iver is a Greasy Weeb (I was doing some fun vocoder stuff). It’s probably good we ended up going with the first. This track feels like a melting point for the album. It finds its place in between the electronic blaze of ‘I Watched Them Go’ and the emo sheen of ‘VR Sex’. It bridges the gap. Lyrically I found the contrast between city nightlife and insomnia to be familiar. It feels comforting and warm even though those two things separately describe quite the opposite.

My Guardian Angel will be released on June 9th via Royal Mountain Records.

It will also feature “I Watched Them Go”:

And “VR Sex”:
