Following the release of The Used’s most recent B-side track, “MEDZ,” vocalist robbietheused has launched his solo career with his debut single, “Just A Little Bit.”
After turning 40 in February 2022, robbietheused (aka Bert McCracken) decided to venture out of his alternative roots and do something for himself. “I wanted a nice 40th birthday present for myself,” he shares in a press release. “So I decided to make a pop record.”
He continues, “I’ve always tried to push for the poppy stuff for The Used records. And the band really likes to keep it heavy. So this is my way of getting all those pop songs that maybe wouldn’t make a Used record out into the world.”
Departing from his signature gravelly outbursts and raw delivery he’s known for with The Used, “Just A Little Bit” is a refreshing, shimmering pop anthem led by a synth-laden production. This track sees robbietheused pushing his vocal range into an uncharted realm, showcasing his versatility and warmth that contrasts beautifully with his usual intensity. The result is an unexpectedly bright and melodic release that highlights his ability to master multiple sounds and genres.
