Following the return of The Ready Set with “Who You Really Are” two weeks ago, vocalist Jordan Witzigreuter has dropped the enlightening, accompanying music video. “Who You Really Are” serves as the artist’s first solo release since 2018’s “Stitch.” Before the official release, Witzigreuter joined our very own Fish to chat about the new single, which you can listen to here.
While chatting with Fish, Witzigreuter shares about the new track, “It’s really chaotic sounding. I have so much new stuff…In my head, I was like, ‘This is not the first thing that you would put out responsibly, and be like, look at my new thing that everyone’s going to love.’ It may be polarizing, which I kind of wanted. The whole vibe of it feels like sort of a mix of what all of the new stuff is, it’s so many different things at once. It’s supposed to feel really chaotic, it just feels like anxiety. Which sort of sums up a lot of the thesis of this and that. But it’s hopeful, too.”

The Ready Set‘s music video for “Who You Really Are” is a visually stunning and reflective piece that perfectly complements the song’s anxiety-fueled and powerful message. Through the visual accompaniment of the lyrics, “Tried so hard for a lifeline/Telling you I won’t get far/Then you say, ‘Fight the war in your head, but don’t forget it’s not who you really are,’” the track allows the viewers to transport into their own world of self-discovery in order to overcome their own inner demons. The video effortlessly characterizes Witzigreuter’s own isolation while he’s on his personal journey seeking comfort, self-acceptance, and his ability to grow no matter how small that growth may be.
