The band has unfortunately been struggling to combat scalpers during the tickets sales of this tour. Originally the group attempted to make their shows as affordable as possible for fans by offering zero “platinum” or “dynamically priced” tickets. They also limited their sales to those registered as Ticketmaster Verified Fans in an attempt to prevent scalping. Despite these efforts, many fans were subject to extremely high transaction fees and others were shut out of tickets entirely. The band revealed they had cancelled nearly 7,000 tickets that were purchased through fraudulent accounts.
Smith stated that all tickets purchased this way would be cancelled but the original fees would not be refunded, sharing that these fees would be donated to Amnesty International and the canceled tickets would be resold to genuine fans. The Cure don’t want these issues to deter fans from buying tickets to the new dates, as they are actively combatting the problem and putting forth their best efforts to ensure valid and inexpensive tickets to their true fans.
